“He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will gather the lambs in his arm, and carry them in his bosom. He will gently lead those who have their young.”
— Isaiah 40:11
Christ’s people are called to care for one another, encourage one another, hold one another accountable, and pray for one another — not only on Sundays, but throughout their lives.
While every Christian is called to bear these burdens with others, this is especially true of the pastor. The word pastor means “shepherd.” One of the pastor’s core duties and great joys is to care for the congregation by bringing Christ and His Word to people as they have need.
The pastor seeks to come to people where they are: in times of joy, such as birth, graduation, and marriage; and in times of distress, such as sickness, loss, temptation, doubt, and death.
If you are in need of prayer or visitation — whether to celebrate a great joy or in the face of some difficulty — do not hesitate to reach out to the pastor.
